When: Wed., July 3 2013

As Independence Day draws nigh, the frequency "America" occurs in the names of special events exponentially increases. This evening, the 33rd annual FitzGerald's American Music Festival begins and continues through Saturday with a lineup of blues, rock, pop, zydeco, soul, jazz, doo-wop, country, and folk acts that pretty well reflect our musical heritage (Dave Alvin and Marcia Ball are a couple names playing). And over at Millennium Park's Pritzker Pavilion (Michigan and Randolph), the Grant Park Music Festival gets into the action with a free concert of "patriotic favorites" from the Grant Park Orchestra, beginning at 6:30 PM.

Price: $30, $100 festival pass
