In his one-man show, Jonathan Pereira argues that dissent is vital to American patriotism: loving this country obliges you to say what you hate about it. You not only can have your cake and eat it too, you must. But he's too distracted by personal anecdotes and his own sense of liberal guilt to voice his dissent effectively. By the end you're only vaguely aware of what it is he dislikes about America, and it boils down to the rather pedestrian complaint that we're too selfish. Pereira is a likable guy with good intentions, but his satire lacks bite. Through 3/25: Fri-Sat 7 PM, Royal George Theatre Center, 1641 N. Halsted, 312-988-9000, $15.
