Americathon | Chicago Reader

The crowning irony of this loosely structured futuristic farce about an America gone bankrupt is that it was financed by German tax-shelter money—which is funnier and more trenchant than anything in the film. Neal Israel directed, with a bigger budget and a slightly steadier hand than were evidenced in his debut, Tunnelvision. The cast, largely from television, includes Harvey Korman, Fred Willard, John Ritter, and Jay Leno (1979).
