Remy Bumppo Theatre Company departs from its usual cerebral choices, classic or contemporary, with this inaugural production in its "ThinkTank" program: Shawn Douglass's adaptation of four stories from Jeff Libman's stellar book of oral histories, collected from Chicago immigrants. As a nod to Libman's job teaching ESL at Truman College, the play is set in a classroom. Students from Cuba, Burkina Faso, Guatemala, and Belarus sit at desks and share stories of their lives before and after leaving their native lands. In Linda Gillum's static staging, it's perfectly nice and perfectly dull, devoid of interpersonal conflict. Glossing over controversy in favor of a fuzzy "it's a small world, after all" mindset doesn't help anyone think more deeply. --Kerry Reid a Through 4/15: Thu-Fri 7 PM, Sat 8 PM, Sun 3:30 PM, Victory Gardens Greenhouse Theater, first-floor studio, 2257 N.
