Dear JR Jones,

Just to say thank you, not just for your on-the-nose appraisal of Across the Universe [Movies, Section 2, September 21] but also for the wondrous choice of last line, from A Hard Day's Night.

Lost on most I am sure, but not on me. I, like you (and Harrison) too, wanted to do what the Beatles did to Susan Canby, the "resident teenager"--turn the sound down and say rude things.

Congratulations. I got more pleasure from that one quote from you than the entire film.
