Andriessen Music in Films

A trio of films featuring music by Dutch composer Louis Andriessen, showing in conjunction with a staging of his dance piece Odyssey later this month. On the program: The New Math(s) (2000, 16 min.), a “witty pastiche of thriller, noir, and martial-arts film styles” by Hal Hartley (Henry Fool); M Is for Man, Music, Mozart (1991, 60 min.), a fantasy commissioned by the BBC from Peter Greenaway (The Pillow Book) for the Mozart bicentennial; and Frank Scheffer's The Road (1998, 90 min.), a documentary about Andriessen's composition of the piece Tao.
