Anne of the Indies

This 1951 feature from Jacques Tourneur may have been meant as a children's adventure, but it attracted the interest of neo-Freudian academic critics for its treatment of "the problematic nature of the fundamental fact of bisexuality." Jean Peters is a lady pirate striking blows against the phallocracy under the name "Captain Providence." With Louis Jourdan, Debra Paget, Herbert Marshall, and James Robertson Justice; the Technicolor photography is by Harry Jackson.
