Annee Pocalypse Member Picks The Short List (Theater) Closing (Theater and Galleries)

When: Thursdays-Sundays. Continues through Sept. 23 2012

Little Orphan Annie does some serious slumming in Hubris Productions' musical parody of the saccharine Broadway hit Annie. Writers Jason Dabrowski, Calidonia Olivares, and Jacob Christopher Green turn the lovable little redhead and her friends into down-at-the-heels but bravely sequined whores at Flannigan's House of Hooch and Cooch. "Daddy Starbucks," meanwhile, has a crisis on his hands when his plan to make the ultimate porno is sabotaged by a roving gang of zombies who keep eating the stars. Raunchy jokes—many of them actually funny—abound. Even better are the jabs at right-wing nuts and the military-industrial complex. Amid the mayhem, Amanda Roeder manages to endear herself in the title role, Holly Portman deliciously embodies evil, and "Muffy Fishbasket" plays the most lovable JAP ever. —Laura Molzahn
