This raw erotic DVD (2004) traces the love lives of three women, all living in the same sprawling apartment complex. The first story concerns a married nurse working the graveyard shift who resumes a torrid affair with a virtual stranger. Graphically candid in his depiction of the two characters' carnal pursuits, Austrian writer-director Götz Spielmann has crafted an intelligent turn-on, something rare in today's cinema. Spielmann has his characters crossing each other's paths throughout, and while this device becomes overly schematic, it does deepen the claustrophobic yet isolated atmosphere he's trying to create. The second story concerns a young woman who tells her unfaithful immigrant boyfriend that she's pregnant, while the third is a painful depiction of a divorced woman trying to elude her violent, narcissistic ex-husband. With Petra Morze, Andreas Patton, Susanne Wuest, Dennis Cubic, Martina Zinner, and Andreas Kiendl. In German with subtitles. 105 min.
