When: Sat., Jan. 31, 7:30 p.m. 2015

Veteran punk band Anti-Flag will release a new album in May, but first it’ll tour on an album released more than a decade ago. After all, what better way is there to tease a record called American Spring than with a reprise of the 2003 opus The Terror State? With nearly 12 years between them, the two releases seem poised to rhyme with each other; The Terror State sunk its teeth into the national malaise of the Bush years with songs about the Iraq war and the Mexican border, while American Spring promises to tackle the surveillance state, police violence, and the prison-industrial complex. America keeps showing its ugly side, and Anti-Flag sticks around to snarl at it. This tour marks the first time the band has played an album straight through in concert—and The Terror State already reads like a blueprint for a powerful live event. Following the show, maybe think about skipping American Sniper so that you can prepare for American Spring instead. —Sasha Geffen
