Ice Cube tries his hand at family comedy in this phony story about a shopkeeper in Portland, Oregon, who hates kee-ids but falls for a lonely divorcee (Nia Long) with two hellish children (Aleisha Allen and Philip Daniel Bolden). When she's called away to Vancouver on business, the Cube offers to bring the sadistic little brats for a visit, and on the road they set about driving him crazy. Eventually they bond with their reluctant chauffeur, and the music swells. At one point Ice Cube steps in front of a pair of oncoming headlights, which turn out to be two motorcycles when they whiz harmlessly past: it's the best gag in the movie, but it's lifted from Buster Keaton's 1921 short Hard Luck. Brian Levant (The Flintstones) directed; with Jay Mohr and Nichelle Nichols. PG, 91 min.
