A columnist advises the lovesick on a radio show even as he stalks his former girlfriend and publishes his fantasies about rekindling their relationship. What happens after he rhetorically asks a bartender, “What do you know that bothers a woman more than fucking one of her friends?” is more intellectual exercise than drama. Writer-director Russell DeGrazier is a keen observer of human behavior, but he must have thought this wasn't enough. The columnist, responding to questions asked by someone offscreen, talks about his psyche in near monologues that interrupt the narrative and bear a striking resemblance to things an actor might say to a director during a preproduction meeting. With Matthew Settle, Samantha Mathis, Gretchen Mol, and Tom Everett Scott. 95 min.
