When: Fri., Oct. 16, 6:30 p.m. 2009

Art Simon, founder of Bread for the World, winner of a Presidential Award for lifetime achievement against hunger, and brother of renowned late Illinois Senator Paul Simon, will discuss and sign his new book: The Rising of Bread for the World: An Outcry of Citizens Against Hunger. On World Food Day, hear Art Simon—dubbed a “powerhouse of focused energy in combating hunger by one book critic—recount how he and his older brother Paul grew up and began their remarkable careers. Chicago community organizer LaVida Davis will host a public interview with Art as he reflects on decades of advocacy for hungry people. The World Food Day evening with Art Simon is part of Action to End Hunger Week, sponsored by Bread for the World and Church World Service. For more details visit www.bread.org/chicagoweek.
