Bad Boy Bill Soundboard Recommended

When: Fri., Dec. 26, 10 p.m. 2008

When it comes to subtlety and nuance, BAD BOY BILL is on about the same level as Dragonforce, which is to say he isn’t concerned with them in the least. His beats are massive, his synths are massive, and for a long time now his crowds have been massive too. His “everything louder than everything else” trance-techno aesthetic has become synonymous with the kind of bottle-service douchebaggery that comes with the megaclub territory, but occasionally you can catch a glimpse of a decent jackin’ house DJ underneath all the excess. For the most part, though, listening to one of his sets is like getting hit with a truckload of bricks while surrounded by a bunch of dudes with extreme hair-gel budgets. Resident Friday-night DJs Mark Centennial, Polbeeta, Joseph Durant, and Billy the Kid also spin. —Miles Raymer
