Using handheld digital video cameras and partly improvised dialogue, indie writer-directors Mark and Jay Duplass (The Puffy Chair) have crafted a raw, wickedly clever comedy that also includes moments of genuine terror. Four underemployed actors, two men and two women, decide to hole up in a remote cabin to hash out ideas for a movie project after viewing a friend's howlingly pretentious art-house film. After they arrive, alliances and attractions start to shift and the actors' tenuous ties begin to loosen. After one of the women dreams of being menaced by a man with a bag over his head, they settle on a horror story featuring that guy, who may be more than an apparition. With Ross Partridge, Steve Zissis, Greta Gerwig, and Elise Muller. 81 min.
