Bailiwick Repertory Directors' Festival: "GLBT Briefs"

The final installment of Bailiwick Repertory's 2003 showcase of emerging directors focuses on gay- and lesbian-themed works. The series runs through July 30 at the Bailiwick Arts Center, 1229 W. Belmont. Performances take place Monday-Wednesday at 7:30 PM; each evening features three or four short plays. Tickets are $10 per evening. One and Other

Claire McCague's play examines the effects of illness and work pressure on people's relationships. Festival coordinator Jason Palmer directs this U.S. premiere.

Springtime

Eleanor Berman directs Marie Irene Fornes's portrait of two women in the 1950s trying to reconcile their passion for each other with the world's conception of love.

Touch: A Play for Two

Two nude men in bed seek arousal in verbal and visual pornography in this play by Toronto writer David Demchuk. Scott Lee Heckman directs.

Truck Stop Love

Heather Brown directs this play by Columbia University grad student Bixby Elliot about a "one-man campaign to legalize gay truck-stop sex."
