When: Saturdays. Continues through Feb. 12 2009
Annoyance founder Mick Napier teams up with Josh Walker, under the direction of Sam Weiner, in what's described as "a foul, filthy fantasy." The show does have more than its share of tripped-out potty jokes, but as they pile up they register as oddly sweet rather than transgressive. It's as if these two were 11-year-old boys--or Didi and Gogo, from Samuel Beckett's Waiting for Godot, in a far more obscene and much less resonant universe. Napier and Walker, who are equally loopy in their pursuit of absurdity, make a good pair: Napier is reserved, coming across as almost parental despite the scatology, while Walker acts like a brainless puppy. Too bad that few of the jokes incite more than a giggle. This isn't much of a comedy. --Laura Molzahn
