This local trio channel the angular, aggressive guitar sound of Dischord-branded postpunk and anchor it with the straight-ahead, bottom-heavy rhythms of 90s alternative-radio rock—and the undisputed star of the show is front woman Donna “Pasty Face” Polydoros. On the brand-new seven-inch “This Is How I Get Over You” b/w “That Boy Musta Stole Something of Mine” Polydoros shows a flare for the dramatic, her overwhelming presence felt as much as heard as her massive, intense vocal range elevates the songs to something divine. During live performances Beat Drun Juel transform into an even wilder, heavier monster, explosive and unhinged. The band recently added new drummer Mat Haywood (also of Velocicopter) and plan on heading back into the studio this fall to track new material they’ve written with him.
