Black Maria Film and Video Festival

Prizewinning independent tapes and films from this annual touring event, now in its 15th year. Among the films in this three-hour program are the 1994 documentary When Billy Broke His Head by Chicago artist David E. Simpson and former Minneapolis journalist Billy Golfus, Suzan Pitt's dazzling animated Joy Street (1995), and Leighton Pierce's structural film 50 Feet of String. The festival's director, John Columbus, will introduce the program; sponsored by the School of the Art Institute's filmmaking department.
