Blatant Thievery

Dear Reader editors,

Linda Lutton ("Congratulations! You Lose!" August 17) pays no income tax but still wants to send obscenities to the IRS. Can she imagine how those of us who do pay taxes feel?

Ms. Lutton and her husband chose artistically engaging but financially unrewarding careers as a freelance writer and a muralist. Then they chose to have children.

Now, rather than accept responsibility for her choices, Ms. Lutton wants the rest of us to subsidize her apartment and pay for the health care, supervision, and education of her children.

Small wonder that polls show decreasing support for the high tax rates necessary to sustain such thievery.
