Blood and Chocolate

The elegant decay of Bucharest offers welcome visual relief from this otherwise tedious goth romance about a beautiful young werewolf (Agnes Bruckner) who violates her arranged union with the hunky wolf-cult leader (Olivier Martinez) by having a fling with a young American artist (Hugh Dancy). Only 20 years old, Bruckner has given one great screen performance (in Karen Moncrieff's Blue Car) and buoyed an endless succession of ill-conceived indie projects (Rick, Stateside, Peaceful Warrior). Good movie roles have generally eluded her, and she labors in vain to keep this big-studio horror confection alive. Katja von Garnier directed. PG-13, 98 min.
