Blue Collar Comedy Tour: The Movie

The land of Dixie weighs in with its own standup comedy package tour, a four-man bill headlined by Jeff Foxworthy (author of You Might Be a Redneck If. . .) and Bill Engvall (who plies a retread of Mad's “Snappy Answers to Stupid Questions” called “Here's Your Sign”). The best comic on the bill is Ron White, whose deliciously bilious drunk act reminded me of his fellow Texan Bill Hicks. Larry the Cable Guy, by far the crudest of the bunch, runs irksomely amok during staged visits to a spa and a Victoria's Secret outlet. Engvall and Foxworthy's gags are so woodenly formulaic I wondered if the movie would end with a round of knock-knock jokes, but instead there's a hilarious trash-talking session with the four guys sitting around gutting one another like fish. 105 min.
