Blues History Tour

When: Jan. 15-16, 3 p.m. 2011

Hosted by Blues U founder Steve Pasek, this weekend’s Blues History Tour includes stops at the Maxwell Street Market area, Bronzeville’s 47th Street blues district, what used to be Record Row on South Michigan, and the old Chess Records building (now the home of the Blues Heaven Foundation). The tour lasts about 90 minutes, and patrons can board buses at several spots downtown, among them Jazz Record Mart, House of Blues, and the taproom and lounge at the Congress Plaza Hotel. It’s part of this winter’s Chicago Blues Weekend, Fri 1/14 through Sun 1/16, which also includes three thematically organized tours of blues clubs like Wallace’s Catfish Corner, Lee’s Unleaded Blues, and Linda’s Place: South Side Blues Guitar, The Voices of the Blues, and West Side Harp, Sax & Soul.
