Bombs Away! The Short List (Theater) Closing (Theater and Galleries)

When: Thursdays-Saturdays. Continues through July 18 2009

Larry Bortnicker and Sally Deering's new cabaret musical features five talented singers romping through a set of song parodies--purportedly numbers cut from Broadway hits during their out-of-town tryouts. The show skews toward sexual and scatological humor. One selection puts a lesbian twist on Mame's "Bosom Buddies," another finds two gang members from West Side Story pining for a same-sex somewhere, a South Pacific send-up substitutes "licky licky" (i.e., oral sex) for "Happy Talk," the hippies from Hair invoke "the age of Uranus"--you get the idea. Staged by David Zak, Bailiwick Repertory's production is performed in the upstairs bar of Hamburger Mary's restaurant, a cozy setting for this diverting if mediocre entertainment. --Albert Williams
