Born American

More Reagan-era bear baiting, with three “innocent American youths” being imprisoned by the Russians after stumbling across the Soviet border on a beer-drinking spree (things like this happen every day); after diplomatic attempts to release them fail, the youths decide to bust out on their own. The film was produced in Finland—and also banned there when the censors decided that it “could harm the relationship of Finland with another country” (guess which one?). With Mike Norris (Chuck Norris's son), Steve Durham, and David Coburn, also Thalmus Rasulala and Albert Salmi; Finnish first-timer Renny Harlin, who's since gone on to bigger budgets stateside (Die Hard 2, Cutthroat Island), is the director.
