Cocktail Challenge: Manischewitz

The manhattan meets cherry wine in this cocktail from Bar DeVille's Bradley Bolt

Given the task of making a drink with either Manischewitz or "dude vodka"—by bartender Luke LeFiles of Hot Chocolate, Bar DeVille's Bradley Bolt took the high road, creating what he called a "fruity manhattan" with Manischewitz Cherry. The cocktail's name comes from the Hebrew proverb "Better blind of eye than blind of heart."

Blind of Eye

1 oz Buffalo Trace bourbon
.75 oz Manischewitz Cherry
.75 oz Carpano Antica vermouth
.5 oz Lemon Hart 151 rum
Three dashes Angostura bitters
Two dashes Bitter Truth orange bitters
Orange peel garnish

Combine all ingredients in a mixing glass. Add ice and stir. Strain into a well-chilled cocktail glass and express essential oils from an orange peel onto the surface.
