A Czech couple, hoping to shield their adopted Gypsy sons from racism, move their family from the city to the country, but they come to realize that prejudice is universal. A mean-spirited neighbor accuses one son of breaking his car windshield, and his racist invective prompts the parents to defend the boy; the perpetrator is never revealed, but it becomes apparent that the neighbor never witnessed the crime either. This whimsical 2002 comedy by Zdenek Tyc exposes the repugnance of adults who direct their racism at children and also shows how unremittingly cruel kids can be toward each other.
