I don't know who's the adolescent here ["The Wasted Metaphor," August 18], the author or the critic, but I enjoyed this play [Proving Mr. Jennings]. Gee whiz, so you read 1984. Big deal. This was a different sort of take, and the actors were great at portraying the stereotypes. In Britain one does not have to bellow to make a point.

So the British audience got it and you didn't. Ho hum. We did.
