Brother & Sister

This droll Argentinean comedy by Daniel Burman (Family Law) examines the love-hate relationship between two elderly siblings, the abrasive Susana (Graciela Borges) and the lumpish Marcos (Antonio Gasalla). After their mother dies, Susana sells the old woman’s flat, leaving Marcos without lodgings, and shunts him off to a small town in Uruguay to keep up a second home she’s bought. The power dynamic between them gradually shifts, however, and Marcos turns out to be a bigger man than he first appeared. Burman takes a fairly sentimental view of familial love here, despite the fact that his story centers on a stage production of Oedipus Rex. In Spanish with subtitles.
