Building a Bottom-Up Chicago: A Bike Tour!

When: Sat., April 24, 11 a.m. 2010

With the question "what does a democratic Chicago look like?" on their minds, leaders of this 12-mile bike tour show riders examples of the city's "solidarity economy," which they characterize as "alternative infrastructures ... rooted in social, environmental, and economic justice." Stops include Hoyne House Cooperative, the Experimental Station, and Backstory Cafe--where lunch is served. RSVP to rachel.a.wallis@gmail.com or nelly.jennings@gmail.com. The suggested donation covers lunch and a donation to the U.S. Social Forum bike delegation, though no one will be turned away for lack of funds. Part of Version Festival.

Price: $5-$10 suggested donation
