Busy P, James Amato, Skyler Recommended Early Warnings (Music) Soundboard

When: Sat., March 21, 10 p.m. 2009

When someone eventually writes a history of the Parisian party scene of the aughts, Busy P—aka Pedro Winter—will probably get mentioned on every other page. He’s managed influential groups (Daft Punk, Cassius), he throws infamously decadent parties, he runs the Ed Banger label (responsible for the filter-metal juggernaut that is Justice), and he helped create a glitzy stoner aesthetic that’s being replicated by hipsters in cities all over the world. When he’s not empire building, he makes music that whips up a flossy sugar high from the trashiest neon-glossy elements of electro and Italo-disco and the unabashed raunch of Miami bass and Chicago ghetto house—no matter how nasty it gets, it always manages to sound swanky and manic too. It’s safe to expect the same flavor from this DJ set. —Miles Raymer
