In this superior indie drama, a Canadian woman (the luminous Patricia Clarkson) arrives in Cairo expecting to meet her husband, a UN staffer, for an Egyptian vacation. When he's interminably delayed by a crisis in a Gaza refugee camp, she takes refuge from loneliness and culture shock in the company of his courtly former colleague (Alexander Siddig), and a strong attraction develops between the two as they tour the city and articulate their cultural differences. Canadian director Ruba Nadda steers clear of the Harlequin romance ditch to deliver a grown-up romance that's smart, subtle, poignant, and psychologically acute.
