As a child Reader photographer Robert Drea spent a lot of time at his grandparents' farm in Cazenovia, Wisconsin. As an adult he started to document life in and around the small (pop. 280) southwestern town. He continued taking photos there on and off for the next 20 years. Thirty-four of his black-and-white photographs--showing wedding receptions, ice fishing, deer hunting, the local Amish community, a vet tending to a cow's herniated uterus, and beauty contestants at the Sauk County fair--are on display through April 21 at the Gold Peak Gallery on the fourth floor of IIT's Institute of Design, 350 N. LaSalle. Shown here is Sid Cook, a cheesemaker in Carr Valley. The exhibit's opening reception is Friday from 5 to 7. It's free.
