Cassel Predicts

To the editors:

Now that the Chicago mayoral election is over, it is time to remind you that in his March 10, 1989 article ["Politics: Primary Lessons"] your political analyst Doug Cassel, who supported Tim Evans, predicted that Evans "will almost certainly do better--perhaps much better--than the man Daley beat in the primary." As we all now know, Evans did worse than Sawyer (40% vs. 43%). Cassel is unable to distinguish between what he wishes to happen and what will happen.

We get enough political propaganda from the candidates so that we do not need any more from your partisan analysts. How about some accurate analysis for a change?

John Q. Public
Chicago

Doug Cassel replies:

Evans got 40,000 more votes than Sawyer did.
