Cat's Eye

It may be that Stephen King's simple plots are easier to take in short doses, or it may be that Lewis Teague's sharp wide-screen framing adds an element of depth and context to King's flimsy world, but this three-part anthology film is surprisingly easy to take. The big problem with King remains the blandly benign sitcom characters that he prefers as protagonists, and Teague doesn't add much flavor on this level. But the stories themselves have enough built-in tension (if not outright sadism) to counterbalance the white-bread effect. With Drew Barrymore, James Woods, Alan King, Kenneth McMillan, Robert Hays, and Candy Clark.
