Every year Chicago says good-bye to some talented bands, and this year two of the departed happen to have very similar names: punishing noise-rock four-piece Cacaw broke up in the fall, and now sprightly, dexterous indie four-piece Caw! Caw! will play one final show before going on indefinite hiatus. They've been a band for eight years, and on their latest release, 2010's Bummer Palace (Trust Tapes), they sound like they're just beginning to understand their own voice. Caw! Caw! load their complex song structures with vivacious power-pop hooks and careening punk energy, and the results are often delightfully bizarre. To celebrate their final gig, they're giving away an odds-and-ends CD-R—remastered tunes, B sides, home recordings, remixes—as well as copies of Bummer Palace. They say they'll be selling off the rest of their merch for whatever people feel like paying. —Leor Galil House Sounds and T'Bone open.
