Celebrate the Industrial Harvest with Free Flour at the Milwaukee Avenue Arts Festival!

When: Sat., July 24, 10 a.m. and Sun., July 25, 10 a.m. 2010

Sarah Kavage has been exploring the Chicago Board of Trade and its influence on Chicagoland's history, farming community, and what we eat. Her project, called Industrial Harvest, is part Michael Pollan and part Robin Hood – an artistic gesture that removes a tiny unit of wheat from the commodity system and gives it back to the people. This summer and fall she will be buying a 1000 bushel wheat futures contract on the Chicago Board of Trade, taking delivery of 1000 bushels of commodity wheat, having it milled into flour, and giving it away to nourish people.
