Centralia: The Bloody Rock Musical Closing (Theater and Galleries) The Short List (Theater)

When: Saturdays. Continues through Nov. 21 2015

The latest wacky offering from pH Comedy Theater’s Jason Geis and Brad Kemp, creators of The Breakfast Club Musical and The Room: The Musical, is based on the true story of Centralia, Pennsylvania, a sparsely populated town of at least ten brave souls that sits atop a coal mine aflame since the 60s. After a government evacuation and revoked zip codes and area codes, it only makes sense the remaining townsfolk would be up to something nefarious. Bill Letz, Samantha Woodman, and Max Lazerine give goofy but nuanced performances as the high school spring-breakers visiting the town to make a Blair Witch-style documentary, their sharp timing a nice contrast to the screwball lyrics and choreography. Nobody’s a Broadway singer here, but that's hardly the priority of this blood-soaked (literally) Halloween-season fun. —Marissa Oberlander

Price: $15, $10 students
