Quinn v. City of Chicago, Midway Airport, and Southwest Airlines

May the floor rise up to meet you. John Quinn says he suffered "physical and emotional trauma" after slipping and falling to the floor near the Southwest Airlines ticket counter at Midway. Quinn blames the airport and Southwest, both of which "permitted vomit to remain" on the floor for "an unreasonable length of time."

Look out below! While standing near a concession stand in Crestwood Cinemas, Melissa Schofield alleges that she slipped and fell on a "slippery substance and/or napkin present on the floor."

Winkelman v. Checkers Drive-In Restaurants, Inc.; S.Y.S. Restaurant ManagemenT, Inc; Burch; and Moore

Care for some fries with your can of whup-ass? Eric Winkelman charges that after complaining about a half-filled order at a Checkers in Cicero he was called a "white-trash mother-fucker" by restaurant manager Marchella Moore, struck with a broom by an "unnamed male employee," then splashed with a cup of hot grease by cashier Roshanda Burch. The restaurant, Winkelman contends, is obligated to ensure "that customers are not assaulted by employees."

Smith v. McDonald's Restaurant and Bivins

Sandy Smith says that she and her daughter ordered a meal at a McDonald's and received a half portion of fries. When Smith asked for more, her suit alleges, employee Torri Bivins yelled at the two customers, then "subsequently" told Smith "she had spat into Plaintiff's fries." Smith looked into the container from which she'd been eating, saw "slimy looking saliva in the fries," and complained. Bivins then flung a glass of water at Smith, injuring her and displaying "a conscious disregard for the rights of the Plaintiffs."

Damages sought: $60,000+
