Chicago: A World City Stretches Its Wings

German novelist Heinrich Hauser created this 70-minute silent documentary about Chicago in 1931. The film was discovered in a Berlin archive in the mid-80s, and in 1998 radio producer Wilfried Reichart and sound designer Hans-Ulrich Werner created a sound track featuring music, ambient sound recorded in contemporary Chicago, and voice-over from Hauser's book Feldwege nach Chicago. This is the premiere screening of the English-language version, to be shown by video projection.
