Kitsch'n River North

600 W. Chicago

From 4:30 to 6:30 PM every Friday, Kitsch'n River North, a campy bar and restaurant inside the former Montgomery Ward building on the Chicago River, serves a free happy hour buffet with just enough fatty food to soak up the dollar PBRs. The night I was there the menu included rigatoni in vodka cream sauce, homemade chips and salsa, and spinach and mushroom quesadillas, but the selection always changes, and you're just as likely to get pigs in a blanket and hot wings. Also: bring in a donation of an actual piece of kitsch any night of the week and dessert is free. No Pez dispensers allowed--it's gotta be in good shape and large enough to be put on display.
