ALL IN THE EX-FAMILY: Maldonado was once married to the sister of alderman Luis Gutierrez, who picked Ocasio to replace him when Gutierrez left for Congress. Ocasio wanted to be replaced by his own wife, Veronica, a Gutierrez aide, but Daley picked Maldonado instead.
