Up-and-coming indie-pop bands who aim to be clever and charming are a pretty much constant presence in my mailboxes—so much so that my mind tends to fuse them into an affable, slightly scruffy blur. But local group Clip Art—led by sideman-about-town Andy Rosenstein—definitely grabbed my attention with 2010's Broken by Design EP. Rosenstein is a sharp songwriter with an obvious encyclopedic knowledge of pop-music history and the considerable technical ability needed to evoke some of its finer moments, many of which come from AM radio's 1970s golden era. Broken by Design appears to have grabbed more than a few other folks' attention as well—this is the final night of Clip Art's monthlong Monday-night residency at Schubas. —Miles Raymer Baby Teeth and Jennifer Hall open.
