Color of the Truth

This 2003 Hong Kong police procedural features an iconic performance by Anthony Wong as a stoic veteran cop reputedly responsible for the death of a fellow officer during a standoff with a gangster ten years earlier. The slain cop's son joins the force, is assigned to Wong's elite squad, and contemplates revenge. Wong Jing wrote the script and codirected with Marco Mak; a prolific director of frothy comedies, Jing here reveals a flair for gritty, plausible drama and tense action sequences. With Raymond Wong and Jordan Chan. In Cantonese with subtitles. 104 min.
