Comedy Against Humanity: The Bullshit Expansion Pack The Short List (Theater) Image Closing (Theater and Galleries)

When: Fridays. Continues through Dec. 26 2014

This Under the Gun Theater show uses Cards Against Humanity, the "party game for horrible people," as inspiration for a night of improv. Upon entry, each audience member receives three white cards with what are essentially punch lines. When the onstage "card czar" reads a question drawn from a stack of black cards—essentially the setups—audience members hold up the white card with the funniest response; the performers then pick a few to serve as inspiration for an improv scene. Playing the game with a roomful of strangers is fun, no doubt. But frankly, ridiculous mashups aren't the best fodder for improv: too often attempts to heighten an already insane or vulgar premise devolve into a series of dick jokes, and few of those could ever be funnier than a plain old-fashioned round of Cards Against Humanity. —Brianna Wellen
