Cozy, Brian's Dirty Business, Pleats, Sleepovers Recommended Soundboard

When: Fri., March 2, 9:30 p.m. 2012

Don't call it a comeback, but it's excellent news that everyone's favorite buck-wild Miami expat, Brian Pineyro, is back on the Chicago scene and playing out with Brian's Dirty Business, aka B.D. Biz, aka the Biz. For far too long he was a one-man show (backed by whoever he could rope into playing for the night—which included me, for one brief set a couple years back), but now Pineyro has assembled a more or less stable lineup to deliver his mad raw vision of jingly-catchy pop rock 'n' roll wedded to samples of air horns, gunshots, and the like. It's fun, funny, catchy, and tighter than a newspaper's freelance budget. Furthermore, listeners who believe Auto-Tune is the province of contemporary Grammy-winning vocalists—not of summertime bro-brahs looking for a "Girl on the Side"—are cordially invited to check out the Biz jam "Wiggle It Around." These are the kind of songs that make you yearn for a sunny beach, a raging barbeque, and a couple cans of old-school Four Loko. —Brian Costello Cozy headlines; Sleepovers and Brian's Dirty Business open. 9:30 PM, Crown Tap, $5 suggested donation.
