Crossed Swords

Another version of Mark Twain's The Prince and the Pauper, this shares the producers, writer, and most of the cast of Richard Lester's The Three Musketeers. But director Richard Fleischer doesn't try to copy Lester's spaced-out style; wisely, he's content to make a fairly straightforward, handsomely mounted swashbuckler with a few comic touches. A perfectly respectable entertainment, although the cast is uneven: George C. Scott on the plus side, Charlton Heston on the minus (1978).
