Cry Wolf Member Picks The Short List (Theater) Closing (Theater and Galleries)

When: Fridays. Continues through Nov. 18 2012

Part of Solo Tres, Teatro Luna's festival of woman-made shows, Kristiana Colón's piece begins with a shower of quarters. They seem to spew from every corner of her apartment, guiding her toward a mysterious piano player whose music sends her spiraling into the past. Related in monologue, spoken word, and song, childhood vignettes paint a picture of a creative overachiever trying to please a violent and overbearing mother. Poetry is the central character's armor and, later, her means of healing from heartbreak. The show's nonlinear structure causes occasional confused meanderings, but Colón's talent as a wordsmith is unquestionable. Her friend "Will Shakes" would be proud. —Marissa Oberlander
