I don't know if it was the bad vibes at the House of Blues, Glenn Danzig's girdlelike rubber T-shirt struggling to contain his gut, or his cringe-inducing boast about how back in the 80s the Misfits had played "on the south side, my bruthuh," but when I first saw Danzig a few years ago—during a tour that featured a block of Misfits songs with early guitarist Doyle Wolfgang von Frankenstein—it was a fairly massive bummer. Then I caught Danzig again last year in the company of a thousand or so very drunk, very enthusiastic metalheads at the Congress Theater and had a complete blast. Going to one of his shows is a bit of a crapshoot, but I'd say that this one—in which he'll not only revisit the Misfits with Doyle but also his brilliantly demented work in Samhain—is definitely worth rolling the dice. —Miles RaymerThis show is part of Riot Fest; see our sidebar.
