Dark Sky, Equator Club, Bengfang, Regulators, Yomansky, Soleman Recommended Soundboard

When: Thu., March 14, 10 p.m. 2013

When dubstep exploded in popularity in the late aughts, its underground adherents scattered across the bass-music map, leaving behind the parts of the sound that the mainstream had latched onto—bass drops, glitchy rhythms—and carrying off its sinister, nocturnal aesthetic. The result is an entire diaspora of postdubstep musicians using similarly reverb-drenched, minimalist approaches to explore wildly different genres. London trio Dark Sky mostly brings that sound to bear on icily aggressive techno with a lineage reaching back to 80s Detroit, but the group also has a harder-to-categorize side that it shows off on tracks such as “City Symphonic,” an engrossing assemblage of field recordings laid over richly textured drum programming. —Miles Raymer Equator Club, Benfang, Regulators B2B Yomansky, and Soleman open.
